Beauty | Products for Oily, Hooded Eyes
Not only are these creme eyeshadows, mascaras and eyeliners great makeup for hooded eyes - they're also some of my current favourites and go-to products.
After receiving a sample-size of Givenchy's Noir Collection Volume Mascara in My Little Box a few months back - I fear for my wallet. My lashes look naturally fluttery thanks to the specially crafted wand - featuring a plump base and tapered end to give you a wide-eyed effect - that defined my inner lashed and leaves my my outer lashes voluminous. Plus there is zero smudging throughout the day, despite my oily eyelids, meaning that I can wave goodbye to the crazy panda lady in the bathroom mirror.
This eyeshadow is everything - from the striking gold to the formulation. Remember those oily, hooded, pain-in-the-ass eyelids I just told you about? They're no match for ColourPops's hella pigmented, smooth and creamy formula that literally lasts all day on my lids. Whilst it's not a colour I wear daily - it's one I yearn to reach for on my out-of-office days. All I want now is for them to hurry up and ship to the UK.
Almost every single day - when I'm not running late, that is - I lightly buff Cornelious into my crease with a fluffy blending brush to add some natural definition to the eye and set with a a warm toned shadow. Whilst it's not as fancy as KathleenLights, it's just what I need on a day-to-day basis.
I first raved about Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creme de Nude quite a while ago, as it's sister - Creme de Rose - from the same collection is very similar, and quite possible dupe-worthy, to MAC's coveted Painterly Paint Pot. Though I find them less longer-lasting than their high-end counterparts - I still reach for Creme de Nude almost every day as, thanks to it's yellow undertones, it works to conceal the veins and brighten the purple - sleepless - tones around my eye, making me look more awake and refreshed, even if I don't feel like it. Though, I definitely need to set it with a pale shadow or powder before heading out of the house because the struggle is real with creasing and fading when it comes to working 8 hour days.
I recently raved about this eyeliner in my May Favourites video, it's black and black, transfer proof and has a super precise brush, making it the perfect eyeliner for hooded eyes. As you'll know if you read my, Disappointing Products post from June, because of this, I have such a problem finding new eyeliners. It's heartbreaking truly.
After my beloved NYC Liquid Eyeliner was pulled from Superdrug stores, along with their counters, I needed to find a replacement - stat. But the NYX Collection Noir Liquid Liner wasn't where I started - though I'm truly glad it's where I ended up. So, in the effort to avoid you from making a potential bogus buy if you have lids like mine...
Soap & Glory's Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen
Transfers like crazy, but other than that was pretty loveable. The tip is a little large but it makes a nice wind and is really easy to use.
Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner
Again, this transfered and ended up in my crease and it faded throughout the day.
Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
This just wasn't as black as I would like it but had a really precise nib.
Collection Fast Stroke Eyeliner
A worth contender for which the reverse was true, no transfer but super hard to control due to its rigid brush.
Got another holy grail product I'm missing from my list? I would love to hear about it in the comments below.
