Glasses | The Hoboken Cat Eye

After five long years together, I have finally retired my rectangular spectacles in favour of these hugely hipster Hoboken Cat Eyes  - in both black and red, naturally - from Glasses Shop.

I normally tend to stray away from buying 'trendy' pieces when it comes to long term wear - flashback to my mother telling me a thousand times that I shouldn't buy the latest toy, gadget or accessory I was interested in in the flashiest colour they made. But for thirty-ish pounds for the pair - the pair - how could I say no? If I get bored - or more likely sit on, lose, scratch or misplace - I can just buy another pair.

Whilst larger than expected, they've certainly grown on me and I can't argue that it's a nice perk to see the world in full twenty-twenty again. Also, before you ask, you can shop this exquisite Black Cracked Marble iPhone 6 Case here - you're welcome.

Beauty | New at the Drugstore Haul

Okay, I caved. I hauled. I don't remember why I stopped hauling in the first place - I just found myself nipping in and out for the same old thing - it feels like an age since I have had a handful of new products to play with.

Rimmel Sculpting Kit // Golden Bronze

Rimmel's stunning 3-in-one palette reminds me very much of my Sleek Face Form Kit (Light) that comes absolutely everywhere with me when I travel. But, I didn't think I truly needed it until I swatched it in store. As with all new releases, everyone else got their first and I was left with the varied selection of the darkest shade Golden Bronze or Golden Bronze featuring fingerprints. Two swatches and a triple check I'd picked up the right one later and I didn't care how the terrifying deep brown contour would look on my skin. I needed that wet-look golden highlight and the candlelit blush - think NARS Orgasm. And the coppery, geometric print wasn't doing much to convince me to otherwise.

Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit // Light

In the same vain - or what I prefer to call the drugstore's second round of killer contour kits - I purchased the Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks. Sure I'd seen it around on a few blogs but this was another scenario in which swatching tipped me to purchase. Although I do think I'll be using the 'highlight' as more of a setting powder - pale people, are you with me on this? - the warm and ashy contour shades swatch matte, finely milled and - as far  as the back of my hand can tell - seem extremely blendable.

*Segway into the irrelevant: I'm also noticing a dip in the amount of drugstore palettes - whether face or eye - featuring mirrors...*

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer // Ivory

A pleasant, dewy alternative to the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer. Whilst it offers a hair less coverage it's much more forgiving on those of us with dry skin. I've actually been testing this out over a couple of weeks after the aforementioned holy grail concealer continually being out of stock.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour // Passion

I'm having a matte moment - said me, around three or so years ago. I have yet to come out of it. I'm extremely hyped to see liquid lipstick making their way from the indie brands to the high street and adore what Revlon have done to re-work their cylindrical lip packaging. The colour is that perfect shade of Diva red, I love to wear but I can't help being more than little skeptical after completing my shop, and a full meal, with the swatch still slick and glossy on the back of my hand...

What makeup purchases have you made recently?

KIKO Milano | Campus Idol Collection

KIKO Milano Campus Idol Collection Face Brush Double Match Lipstick and Lip Liner Urban Sheen Lipgloss Pump it Up Volume and Curl Mascara
KIKO Milano Campus Idol Collection Face Brush Double Match Lipstick and Lip Liner Urban Sheen Lipgloss Pump it Up Volume and Curl Mascara

KIKO Milano's Limited Edition Campus Idol Collection launched early this year sporting minimalistic packaging with bright pops of contrasting colour so mesmerising; you have no idea how much I want to hold onto the packaging - sad Beauty Blogger confession #38. It's no surprise that these are among are some of my favorite picks from the #HBMarchMeet hosted by local restaurant, Al Porto and a few of my favourite blogging ladies over the weekend.

My face lit up when fished the Campus Idol Face Brush in Purple* from the depths of the goodie bag. As it is, I'm a huge fan of KIKO's low price, high quality lines but hadn't had the pleasure of testing out their brushes after I made the the rookie mistake of overspending in store and not being able to justify 'just one more' face brush when I had at least four perfectly good - albeit dirty - face brushes at home. It's a makeup mistake I have regretted ever since and I already had it on my list of things to pick up one during next month's shopping trip to Leeds.

I can see the Double Match Lipstick & Lip Liner in Strawberry Pop* becoming a handbag must-have of mine. It's red, multifunctional and the lid-to-packaging click seems sturdy enough to not leave me with a nice red stain on my lining. Has this happened to anyone else with wooden liners or is it just me?! But we'll see how well it wears on the lips tomorrow, when I take it for a test-drive during the 9-5.

Whilst I'm not a huge lipgloss fan on a day-to-day basis - matte simply wears much better - KIKO's Urban Sheen Lipgloss in Glamour Magnolia* is just the right shade of red that it makes me want to be. I'm thinking of pairing this with the Double Match Lipstick to increase the wear-time and I'll be reporting on my social media as to whether I'm a lipgloss convert.

The Pump it Up Volume & Curl Mascara* wins my wand-that-looks-most-like-a-torture-instrument award - you need to go check this out on the KIKO website. I can't wait to see what it does to my lashes and/or how long it takes to impale my eyeball on it. But being the bad beauty blogger that I am, I currently have at least 6 open mascaras - blame the lashtastic releases by Benefit and Too Faced - which I'll be working my way through before opening it - honest.

You can shop the collection at KIKO's website where there is currently 30% off and free express shipping until the 10th March.

Zoeva | Cocoa Blend Palette

Zoeva Coco Blend Palette Eyeshadow Beauty Makeup Eyeshadow Neutral Red Matte Shimmer
Zoeva Coco Blend Palette Eyeshadow Beauty Makeup Eyeshadow Neutral Red Matte Shimmer

How dreamy is this Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette? With just the right mix of creamy, everyday mattes and buttery, wearable pops of colour.

I'd like to start this post by giving a little shoutout to my newest obsession: Beauty Bay for delivering my late-night order the very next day - my mid-week self appreciates this very much. So, at least when I'm running around stuffing mouthfuls of overnight oats into my mouth tomorrow morning, half dressed, chiding myself for spending far too long in the mirror - I can be safe in the knowledge that my eyeshadow looks flawless.

This was one of those palettes that I needed. Over the summer months I became captivated by the deep reds of festival-ready shadow and basically spent the latter-half of last year buying up each and every shade I could find.  So, perhaps you can understand just how crazy I went over the shade Warm Notes - do I really have to point this one out? - it practically pops right out of the palette! The shimmery shadow is a very similar hue to MAC'S Cranberry with a touch more magenta duo-chrome that you can either wear blended into the crease as a subtle hint of colour or all over the lid.

The shade Pure Ganache is another favourite - it's one of those timeless golds like Half-Baked (Urban Decay) or Amber Lights (MAC) that looks stunning of every skintone. By now, I must own at least 27 of these kind of shades hidden away in various palettes - but I just can't stop being drawn to them.

The last shade I want to specially mention is Freshly Toasted - that burnt sienna you see mid-bottom row - quite simply I love it. I love it. I love it. It's like someone invented my perfect transition/crease shade that compliments my eyes and matches my hair down to a T.

As my first try of the Zoeva line - yes, brushes included *shock, horror* - I'm very impressed and can't wait to add a couple more of these to my collection - *eyes the Warm Spectrum Eyeshaodw Palette eagerly*. Let me know what you've tried from Zoeva in the comments below!

H&M | Black Marble iPhone Case

I know it's cliche - read: totally on trend rn - but this edgy, cracked H&M Black Marble Phone Case is my new favourite accessory. It's just so Tumblr.

As someone who is known for her chunky phone cases - see this Savfy Battery Case and this National Breast Cancer Foundation Utility Case* - it's been a while since I've bought a phone case just because it looked flawless. Mostly, because the inner voice inside my head keeps reminding me just how many glass screen protectors I have gone through already this year...

The inverted colour scheme gives it a grunge twist which fits my day-to-day style so much more than the chic white marble trend that is still sweeping the bloggersphere - are we over this yet? Although I can't help but wonder just how many pieces my screen will shatter into the next time my phone flies out of my dungarees or takes a dive for the driveway #adultproblems...
