Beauty | Best of 2015

Twenty-fifteen was the year of the strobe paired with big, bold and beautiful brows. Though there were fewer liquid lipstick releases than I'd hoped - fingers crossed for early 2016 - the drugstore really upped its game in the world of brows and highlights during SS15.

Whilst products like my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer remain old favourites, newer releases stole the lip game with Maybelline's Creamy Matte and Colour Drama range. So what will I be reaching for to get ready on NYE, the last night of the year? My favourites, of course...

Foundation: GOSH Cover Drops
Concealer: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair
Setting Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder in Translucent
Blush: Maxfactor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve
Highlight: Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights
Contour: Benefit Hula Bronzer
Setting Spray: Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Fixing Spray
Brow Powder: Illamasqua Powder Eye Shadow in Jules
Brow Gel: W7 Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel Mascara in Browny Brows
Mascara: Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara
Lipstick: Maybelline Creamy Mattes

Honorable Mentions: Benefit They're Real Mascara, The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer, Makeup Revolution Highlight Palette, MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in Opalescent Amber, Revlon Colorstay Makeup, Maybelline Colour Drama Lipstick.

What were your favourites for 2015?
Did any of these feature on your list or will they be on your wishlist for the New Year?

Beauty | Am I a Nars-cissist?

Beauty blogger confession #312: I didn't own a NARS product until 2015 *cue gasps of horror*

NARS, whilst being a brand I've admired from afar has never really been a brand that I have identified with - sure every bblogger knows the sleek matte black packaging and iconic lettering spells luxe, but I've always found lower-end products that fit the bill so saved my pennies for a rainy day - for example, when it was raining in Leeds last week and I literally ran to the Charlotte Tilbury counter...

That was, until the great red eyeshadow obsession of 2015 in which I search high and low for a matte MAC Cranberry-esque alternative until I found NARS' Grenadine. It's just enough out-there to be quirky but in a completely wearable and vampy fashion. I. Love. It. And then what turned up on my desk just a few days ago in my My Little Box? A NARS Orgasm Mini. If you are a fellow makeup enthusiast whose reading then then you'll totally understand my glee as I announced to my office that I finally had Orgasm - which thankfully most of them understood or else that could have been awkward...

Let me know what your favourite NARS product is in the comments below so I can add it to my now ever-growing list! Audacious lipstick anyone?

My Showcase | Dolores Christmas Weekend-er

The Dolores Christmas Weekend Washbag* from My Showcase not only carries a few of current beauty must-haves but it embodies that old-school glamour - a look I fittingly attempted to rock at my very own Christmas party. Whilst it's exterior may be classy - it's also practical too with an easy wipe-down finish for those foundation fingerprints left behind my your blender.

This Christmas will be my very first away from the nest so whilst I can't see it getting much time on the road - sorry Dol! - it's definitely a festive treat from me to me that I can use all year round!

Esthechoc | Beauty Chocolate

Esthechoc* is the guilt-free way to enjoy chocolate this Christmas with a daily supply of 72.6% dark chocolate packed with skin-loving antioxidants, So whether you're looking for a quick chocolate fix for your afternoon tea or a tastier way to protect against aging and improve luminosity, Esthechoc* has got you covered.

Whilst I'm not able to vouch for a loss of crows feet, I've definitely been enjoying my daily dose of dark chocolate - and feeling good about it too! Why not make the advent calendar last all year?

Beauty | Rimmel do we Really Only need 1 Lipstick?

Let's talk about the lip revolution. When Rimmel released their new line of 'The Only 1' lipstick (you'll ever need). I was adamant I was not buying into the hype. This coming from a Rimmel lip fanatic. Their Kate line is legendary in the beauty bloggers community - read: 107 - and their Moisture Renew line boasts more than a few MAC dupes. But there is no way they could back up the claim that you only need one line of lipsticks. Could they?

I'll admit I was sucked in one payday weekend by the vamped up packaging and ten minutes later ended up walking away with a version of my go-to wine - ironically called 'One-of-a-Kind' - and a vibrant and sassy orange with the rather apt name 'Call Me Crazy' - because, reasons.

Another 10 minutes later and I was hungrily eyeing up the two in my bedroom mirror debating which one would go better with the 0 plans I had that day. One of a Kind won out. One swipe and my lips were smothered in such a lustrous and pigmented sheen it had me worried that I'd skipped the lip liner. Confident that it wouldn't make it through a cup of tea without bleeding - the ultimate Brit test - my smile faded when I looked in the mirror.

Whilst my mug was indeed covered in kisses, my lipstick was holding strong in all its mattified glory. Fast forward a few weeks and One of a Kind lives in my work bag - pleather rucksack - maybe even a little more than MAC Diva.
