Fragrance | Van Cleef and Arpels: Ambre Imperial
Last winter I went through a phase of mixing sweet, feminine perfumes with the darker notes in men's cologne. Firstly because I read that the goddess that is Blake Lively did it, and secondly because it made the perfect scent that was strong, complicated and androgynous. It's something I never considered they'd already had the brilliant idea of bottling and, in all truthfulness they hadn't - yet.
Described as a sweet, spicy, oriental fragrance with notes of bergamot, peppercorn, amber, tonka bean, black gold and benzoin resion (admittedly only half of which I know, and love) - Van Cleef and Arpels: Ambre Imperial* is the perfect dark and, dare I say sexy, fragrance. It's a no-fuss, every occasion scent that would suit a night cruising the swankiest bars as well as accompany the cutest skirt and heels to the office and it just lingers on and on on the skin throughout the entire day (read: tried and tested during 8 hours of back-to-back house viewings - but more on this in another post).
Wearing it has been my guilty pleasure over the past week when I've either been out of the house running a thousand errands or glued to my laptop in my pyjama bottoms, I just I can't stop finding myself reaching for it's addictive scent. I must say that the packaging helps, it's simple and sleek but it's got some weight to it so it just feels like a luxury scent that mirrors the androgynous feel of the fragrance If you're looking for a little splurge this fall then I'd highly recommend investing!
