Swatches from L to R: MAC Painterly Paint Pot // Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creme de Rose // B Stunning Vibrant Eye Shimmer in Lizzie

A #bbloggers favourite, and for a very good reason. This versatile paint pot suits a range of pale skintones and can be used both as an eyeshadow base and as an all-over-lid colour for an everyday effortless look that really brightens up the eye by camouflaging dark undertones from one too many late nights and concealing those pesky veins. It lasts all day with minimal creasing and looks killer with a flick of winged liner. But has it just gone and lost it's top spot on my makeup shelf?

As almost an exact dupe, this newly released (UK) Colour Tattoo may just be my favourite of the range. Which is a bold claim coming from the makeup addict that owns them all. It effortless application corrects colouring and hides veins just like Painterly and is an almost exact colour copy, as seen in the second swatch. It lasts just as long and costs less than a third of the price that is, when it's not frequently on offer. The bottom line is, if you do not already have this in your collection or are looking for a dupeworthy product - this is it.

If you'd have asked me last month for a Painterly dupe then this would have been my answer (and has here, here and here). As a similar skintone shade with a hint of gold shimmer, this cream shadow looks gorgeous when worn alone or underneath some shimmery shadow and, until today, was all the drugstore had to offer in terms of flesh-tones eyeshadow bases.

But now I can see myself reaching for it less and less. The hint less of those salmon tones makes a noticeable difference when it comes to hiding those little blue veins above the lid and it's just not as long lasting as the offering from Colour Tatoo - despite being one-and-a-half times the price. Though B Stunning do offer some beautiful seasonal shades that I consider staples in my collection, this one has just been out-done.
