Tag | Confessions of a Blogger
During January I was tagged by the charming Alex from Champagne and Lemonade to do the Confessions of a Blogger Tag, so settle down with a cuppa as this is a long one!
1. How many hours a week do you spend planning/writing/uploading posts?
Honestly? I'm a sporadic blogger. Some weeks I'll spend hours taking photos and editing and typing and editing some more, but others - when I'm usually too busy to fit anything remotely resembling fun in - I don't. I sleep instead. Mostly I find batch writing is way forward for me as I get all inspired and can notice a progression in the quality of the first post to the last.
2. Are you a spender or a saver?
I'm a bit of both - I make sure to save for all the important bits and bobs (the most current being car insurance - fingers crossed) but I'm also a huge spender when it comes to that spare cash, as anyone who has ever been into a Boots or clothing shop with me will vouch for. Though I must admit, lately I've been quite good!
3. When is it easiest for you to write your posts?
When I'm procrastinating. Posts never just come to me when I'm having a lazy day off - I'm always snowed in with work or have a million and one thing to do that day. Still, it's nice to have a break and write something.
4. What makes writing posts comfortable for you?
My bed, tea, pajama bottoms. If your list does not include any of these then you are quite simply doing it wrong (note: chocolate is also an acceptable answer).
5. What’s your worst make up/hair habit?
I'm not sure if this counts but I bite my nails when I'm nervous - a lot. In fact, I'm still growing them out from exam period - thank god they invented falsies!
6. What’s one quote you wish the world would live by?
Off the top of my head, I can't think of one but it would have to be something about thinking before you act. Every decision I make I ponder over - I'm not impulsive. It can be as simple as a tweet or a major life decision but thinking it through: the benefits, the potential problems, the downsides and how it can affect other people is really beneficial to both me and my relationships.
7. How long do you spend getting ready everyday?
Currently I spend around 10 minutes or so, I've been more concerned with the rest of my day than how I look whilst going about it (thank you degree). But occasionally it ups to 30 if I want to do something with my hair other than it's usual messy style or take some blog photos.
8. What’s your favourite post on your blog?
Oddly, I don't think I have one. There are some photos which I really like but there's no one post that sticks out at me. I guess my favourite to write are lifestyle posts because I can really sit down and spell out exactly what my inner monologue is telling me.
9. Who is a beauty blogger that you think deserves more subscribers that they have?
Hands down it's got to be Ffion from A South Wales Blog - this girl is wise beyond her 19 years when it comes to well, pretty much anything! I really enjoyed reading her feminism and dating posts. She is always more than lovely to chat to on the Twittersphere. Plus she has killer hair.
10. What’s one thing you’re excited about in the coming year?
Graduating. Driving. Moving out. Do I really have to pick just one? This year brings so many changes for me and I can't wait to see where I'll be at the end of it. Successful, hopefully - and happy.
11. What’s been your favourite blogging moment?
There have been so many! Don't ask me to pick just one: meeting so many of you, getting to go amazing places and do some incredible things. But I guess, for me, blogging is in part fulfilling that wish my terrified introvert of a fifteen year old self wanted to do but never could. I was super shy, like crazily shy and used to go bright red reading in class or talking to teachers, heck, even people I barely knew. So last year, I remember being on this UNiDAYS video shoot at Meadowhall - with all these people running around at the lock in - literally hundreds in sight and I was there with a video camera pointing at me and several people staring, and I was as cool as a cucumber. It did not phase me in the slightest. And I guess that just shows how I've changed as a person.
12. How long does it take to prep for a post?
Depending on the post 30-60 minutes. Sometimes products will just not obey, I'm not motivated or the lighting is just not quite right - I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to taking photos so that probably eats up a lot of my time.
13. Are you wearing jeans/skirt right now or are you wearing pajama bottoms?
I'm wearing stretchy bike trousers that are majorly comfy. My best friend and I have the same pair. The of course, as it's still winter the obligatory jumper, complete with scarf as I've just been driving.
14. What are you most proud of in your life?
I am proud of me, it sounds incredibly ego boosting. But I think that if you're not proud of yourself, hen no one else really has a reason to be either. I am proud that I ended up going to my first choice university and changed my career path, and am not in heaps on the floor crying about how my life is over. I'm proud of my positive attitude towards life, even after so much negativity and my confidence in my own abilities. I'm proud of my friends, for each making their own way in the world, even if it is so different from mine.
A South Wales Blog - see above, she's awesome.
She Might be Loved - because I want to know how long she spends agonising over those gorgeous makeup looks (she probably just wakes up like that, fabulous as she is)
Just Becky - because she takes the nicest photos - really, go check! -and is amazing to chat to and we need to hang out again soon!
