Makeup Revolution | Lip Hugs + Swatches
When Makeup Revolution launched their Lip Hugs line, there was major beauty blogger hype (actually, when Makeup Revolution launch anything there is major beauty blogger hype). But it took me a lot blog hopping and more than a little convincing as to just how these weren't just another lipstick, before I joined the masses last month with my purchase of a wine (Still Missing my Baby) and a nude (Not Giving Up).
As an obvious dupe, in style and in finish, for the Too Faced La Creme Colour Drenched Lip Creme (£18) but for their budget price ticket lack the expensive looking exterior and instead opt for the same shiny black plastic as most of the Makeup Revolution range. At least you won't get overly attached when you throw them in your makeup bag...
They offer a sheer yet buildable finish paired with an intensely hydrating formula. But because of this they regrettably have a tendency to slide off onto your morning coffee. Even so they last a good 2-3 hours on the lips - sans drinking and eating - especially when used atop lip liner: I recommend KIKO Smart Lip Pencil in 710, a dark red-wine colour for Still Missing my Baby and the GOSH Velvet Touch Lip Liner in Nougat Crisp for Not Giving Up.
Although there is a rather extensive range for a drugstore brand, I don't think I'll be purchasing more of the shades as I generally sit firmly in camp wine or camp nude (and occasionally camp kooky) when it comes to lipsticks. And I often find these two hidden in the depths of my bag as they make great everyday shades and it's always important to have a nude and a red in my possession for dressing up or dressing down my attire.
What lipsticks have been gracing your handbag recently?
