Price of My Daily Face

I've seen a lot a beauty bloggers posting this lately and I've been in mixed minds about the whole thing. On one hand I and intrigued about the total cost of the makeup I use each and every day. On the other I am partially dreading it, because it means I have spent this much money on the makeup I use every day. You can guess which one won out. I've split it into a couple of sections and attempted to post it in the order I use the products in case you wanted to recreate it.

NIVEA Daily Essentials Express Hydration Primer - £4.99
Anatomicals No Old Bags Allowed Eye Gel - £3.49
FashionistA Vanishing Cream - £10

Cleaning My Brushes!

I'll be the first to admit how terrible I am at cleaning my brushes regularly. In fact, I'm absolutely awful at it!

I know the benefits are countless: smoother makeup application, reduced build up of bacteria. But I still haven't forked out on an expensive brush cleaner to this date. Instead I used Johnson's Baby Shampoo which cost a grand total for just over £1. And it does the job perfectly! It's gentle enough to keep your brushes in tip top condition but it's also tough when it comes to removing the gunk.

All I do is I pour a small amount of shampoo into the palm of my hand and run my brush under the tap, then swirl it in my palm repeatedly, rinsing my palm and adding more shampoo as needed. For a large fluffy powder brush this could take repeating up to six times, for a medium size blush brush around four. Foundation brushes are probably the worst!

My brushes are left looking and feeling like new.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo vs. Calvin Klein Tempting Glimmer Crème

Calvin Klein Tempting Glimmer Crème Eyeshadow in the shade 21302 Sheer Nectar - £15.50

I stumbled across this Calvin Klein Tempting Glimmer Crème after I had discovered the ever stunning Maybelline Colour Tattoo. From what little I saw through the packaging I thought the shade 21302 Sheer Nectar would be a perfect dupe for the Pink Gold I had at home. Here's just how wrong I was...

There's quite a difference! I've already written a review on the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in the shade 65 Pink Gold so I shall try my best not to repeat myself. They're both gorgeous shimmery colours. I use the Colour Tattoo all over my lid and then the Tempting Glimmer Crème on my outer corner or in my crease. They look great together too! I find they both easily last a day of wear, even throughout my busy seven hour party shift at work without breaking a sweat.

You can see you get a lot more in the Colour Tattoo than you do in the Tempting Glimmer Crème however I find you have to use a lot, lot less of the Tempting Glimmer Crème in order to achieve the same sort of coverage.

Looking at the swatches here, the Tempting Glimmer Crème in the shade 21302 Sheer Nectar is probably a better due for the Colour Tattoo On & On Bronze which I am hoping to purchase along with Timeless Black later on in the week. I just can't wait to test out the Colour Tatoos shadows as eyeliner too! Ooh and maybe a little bit of Gold too *oh dear*.

New Look Autumn Wishlist

As it's officially autumn I have been craving my go to jeans over my beautiful summer dresses. I really need some more style in my life! Which means gorgeous dresses, richly coloured woolly tights and ankle booties paired with a leather jacket. New Look is the perfect place to start my search for day dresses and I have trawled their website and found my favorite picks for the autumn season. Their dresses quirky, cute and are hard to beat for the price!

Without further ado...

Classic with a slight autumnal/grunge twist.

(also comes in super cute petrol blue and burgundy)

I'm not usually one for loud prints but my friends own a few of these and they look gorgeous!

Because who doesn't love the cold shoulders?

ON SALE from £25.00

So cute (and warm)!

I love the quirky embellishment, it really makes the dress pop.

What I really love about this dress is that you can dress it up or down.

As you can probably tell I'm quite the skater dress fan! I'm not a huge fan of loud prints or bright colours during the colder months so I tend to side with burgundys, navys and greens (not forgetting blacks - but when are these ever out of fashion!).

Which dress is your favorite?

The Starting Off Project - Blusher

Good morning beauties! So today I'll be writing all about blusher as part of #theSOproject - I'll admit it's being teensy bit late! Yesterday was very busy for me with packing and moving back to university so I didn't get chance to write or photograph for this post. Now I am mostly unpacked and feeling a lot less stressed!

Moving has meant that I have had to cut my usual beauty cupboard down by at least two thirds - only two blushes made the cut! So I thought I'd share them with you here. On the left we have Collection's Blush in the shade 04 Trouble though I have had plenty from this range. What attracted me to them was that they were all beautifully embossed with swirls, with just a hint of shimmer. And, as ever, they were pale enough for my skin.

Next up is Dainty Doll Powder Blusher in the shade 004 You are My Sunshine which is a lot darker and a lot more pigmented so I find I only need to literally touch my brush to the powder and that's all I'll need for a rosy touch that lasts the day. again it has a stunning gold shimmer. I love having a little glow to my face and I find shimmery blush is the perfect way to do this!

I apply these to either the apples of my cheeks in the summer or across my cheek following the line of my cheekbone during the autumn and winter months using a medium size fluffy powder brush. From there I can add highlighter or contour my cheeks.

Which one's your favorite? I would love to hear your blush recommendations too!

Wednesday Wishlist #4

1. Hair Bows
Now autumn is here I think it's time for natural waves swept up in a larger than life dark or printed bow. Why not check out my DIY here.

2. Autumn Nail Polish
My favorite! Burgundy, Navy, Forrest Greens, Metallic, Grey & Slate. In particular Topshop's Nails in Aurora (far right).

3. Silver Paper Plane Necklace
I actually have one of these on order, I think they're adorable even if Harry Styles did wear one that one time...

4. Rose Studs
I own a pair in both black and gold and would love a more natural shaded pair.

5. Barry M's Ultra Moisturising Lip Paint
In the shades 159 (gold), 162 (red), 156 & 160 (burgundy): My favorite is the gold I think it would look great smudged atop a dark lip.

6. Leather Wraparound Bracelets with Metallic Detail
Whether it's a watch or studs - I want one!

7. Bow Bangles, Rings and Midi Rings
Because, why not?

What are your favorite picks this week?

MUA Undress Me Too Palette Review

Some say this MUA Undress Mee Too Palette is the perfect dupe for the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette (hence the name!) - never having owned the Naked 2 pallet I can't comment but I can speak for this palette. Which, consequently is always out of stock on the website! It's amazingly pigmented and features some stunning neutral shades in both a shimmery and matte finish. My favorites of which are:

Devotion | Fiery | Corrupt

For swatches why not check out the MUA website?

The palette comes with a double-headed sponge applicator which is more than I had expected and is handy in a pinch, but I think I'll be sticking to my pack brush and large blender brush for now. However for those of you who are just starting out this is a huge added bonus - you can save one side for the lighter shades and the other for the darker shades to avoid blending your colours.

It's the perfect neutral pallet that's ideal for Autumn! And is incredible for it's price of just £4To spice up your autumn neutral eye why not throw in a little burgundy or olive green near the outer corner?

Coffee Chat: I'm Guest Blogging for UNiDAYS!

Okay, so first of all I LIED. This isn't a coffee chat as I am no longer drinking tea after 8pm (and it's currently 1:08am) and I have just finished my last shift at work.

For me, the end of September means the end of #blogyoursocksoffSeptember and also the end of what has been a very long summer. And, subsequently the move back to university, means I am going to have a heck of a lot less time for blogging and whatnot. At the moment I have planned out the entire of October in my diary. Sadly, all my plans tend to fail so I am going to try and post every other day (ish) as I know #theSOproject is going to interfere with this schedule. Would you prefer more structures days (eg. Monday, Wednesday and Friday) or just blogging whenever I get the chance (hopefully every other day)?

However it also means the start of new projects such as #Bloggoween - if you don't know what this is, have you been hiding under a rock away from my Twitter feed? - I am so excited about this project and the amount of you that have gotten on board. If you want more details click here. Those of you who already know what I'm on about have had your ear talked off enough! Some very exciting e-mails will be going out regarding this later in the week so if you haven't registered your interest yet, make sure you do!

Speaking of very exciting top secret new projects - guess who's currently guest blogging for UNiDAYS! I have kept this a secret for what feels like so long. Mainly because I was partially convinced that I'd dreamt up the whole thing. It would literally mean so, so much to me if you could head over to their blog THE EDIT and have a little read or leave a little comment. My first post in the DIY series especially designed for students (ahem, those with no funds) will go live at 1:30pm TODAY (I'll post the link here once it goes live). I hope you guys like reading - and making - it just as much as I did!

This last bit is just a quick note about the free headers, blog intros, signatures etc. I am currently making for people. If you haven't received yours yet I'm sorry! There was a HUGE amount of interest and as I've already explained, my life is pretty darn hectic at the moment! I will endeavor to have them all sent out by the end of this week. You can check on your progress, or if I've tried to contact you here.

It's now 1:36am (I procrastinate...) and I am off for some well deserved shut eye!

My Warpaint Bag

Hello beauties! A couple of weeks ago I wrote a guest post over at Ellie's Ramblings all about my new makeup bag, which her followers seemed to love. So I decided I'd re-post it for you all here.

Last week I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a new makeup bag seens as mine has now been downgraded to 'acceptable size for my purse' and isn't really good for much else. The perks of starting a beauty blog is that your makeup collection seemingly triples in a matter of a few short weeks - oops? I purchased this from B&M for just £2.99 as it's a lot bigger than my current one, and will withstand some serious mileage when I'm travelling up and down the country and to and from university this year.

I found the slogan particularly cute as I'd never really thought of make up as 'warpaint' before but it fits so well! The bag is super spacious - there is no way on earth it will house my whole collection (perhaps if I bought another five or six...) but it makes weekend away a lot easier to pack for. The outside is plastic coated, something I have recently decided is a sought after quality in make up bags as is makes foundationy finger marks so much easier to wipe away! The down side is, it has no pockets but I was thinking of buying a smallish handbag organiser (from Primark, of course) for the middle so that it's much easier to locate my products where ever I am.

As you can see, it doesn't have much in it at the moment as I am generally at home so just use my beauty cupboard (let me know if you want to see a tour!) but I have the reminiscence of my last outing at the bottom just to show you how much of a monster this thing really is!

MUA Matte Lipstick Review

Hi beauties. I cannot explain to you how excited I am that I can start wearing dark lipsticks again now that autumn is practically here! I'm a huge fan of MUA so when their new Matte Lipsticks and Palette were launched I bought them online the very same day! This week has been painstaking waiting for them to drop through the letterbox.

This is my first time purchasing fro the MUA store as my MUA counter back home is a little bare. So now I'm going to bore you a little with the post and packaging. I was really impressed with the delivery speed of five working days as they told me it could take that long just to dispatch. I'll admit, I generally buy my makeup at the drugstore and have never ever waited for pressed eye shadow to be delivered my my life. I was constantly worrying about receiving a completely smashed up palette. When the package arrived it came in a decent sized cardboard box (I'd purchased two palettes, the lipstick and a small pot of primer) with oodles of polystyrene - that makes me cringe! - and bubble wrap. I'm pretty sure I could have dropped it and nothing would have gotten broken. So all in all, a huge thumbs up!

Now onto the important bit, MUA's new range of Matte Lipsticks. Today I'll be reviewing mine in the shade Wild Berry.

The Price: This is one of MUA's bargain lipsticks for just £1! How could you go wrong at that? Whether you need a particular shade for an event or just want to try something new without spending the earth - MUA is there to help. Obviously at £1 the MUA lipstick range are not going to live up to the likes of MAC but in mine and many other beauty bloggers opinions, at just £1 how could you go wrong?!

The Texture: This is the first thing I noticed. The texture of this lipstick is unlike any other lipstick I have tried. It reminds me a little of (and MUA lovers, please don't hate me for this) a wax crayon in a strangely pleasant way. Lips feel moisturised without feeling heavy or slippery.

The Colour: The pigment on the lips is a little dilute compared to that of the stick, as you can see by the swatch. It's more of a lip stain that a lipstick effect that creates something a lot more wearable. It's perfect if you don't think you can pull off those deeper shades during autumn.

The Staying Power: I was genuinely impressed with how little this transferred after application. I always test this to make sure my cups of tea and boyfriend are free from huge red lip marks! As for longevity I would say this lasts around 2 hours (without eating or drinking) per application, so yes, you're going to have to make some room in that handbag of yours.

Scent/Taste: None.

Is it Really Matte? Honest answer? Yes! I apply it to clean dry lips and it's completely matte.

Would I Repurchase? Yes! I'm actually planning on purchasing although Scarlet Siren of the same range, it's a beautiful deep red.

What are your thoughts on the new MUA Matte range? Are you planning to purchase it or have you already? Also let me know if you like my new structured review layout or would prefer me to lump it altogether as usual. Stay tuned for the MUA Matte Palette review - coming soon!

Today I'm going to be blogging about a very special project myself and Molly from Lyon's Notes have cooked up in one of the recent chats, #Bloggoween! This is the first project I've had a hand in organising and I am sooooo excited! Halloween has always been my favorite season - ever since I was little. We would go trick or treating, throw parties, make pumpkin soup and decorate at least half the house! It was always a big thing in my house because my birthday is the day before, so we'd often end up celebrating with a Halloween style bash. Now I'm away at university I feel like I need some Halloween cheer. So to be doing this on my first Halloween as a blogger is absolutely perfect!

We hope to get beauty, fashion, lifestyle and decor bloggers far and wide involve in the project to share their love of Halloween! There'll be makeup tutorials, fashion DIYs and I'm holding out for a few pumpkin soup recipes too! Whether you're planning to do a decoration tour or film you getting ready - we want to hear from you!

If this interests you, don't hesitate to get in touch by commenting below or leaving me a tweet with your e-mail address, or you can drop em an e-mail at directly so I can send you all the lovely details! We've already got a great list of bloggers who are taking part in the project! There's space for anyone who wants to get involved - and best of all the is open to everyone internationally, for bloggers who are interested in absolutely anything! The only thing is, if we manage to host a giveaway it will have to be UK only due to postage :-(

Feel free to spread the work using the #bloggoween! I'll be hashtagging all the updates!

Wednesday Wishlist: Satchels

Satchels are the ultimate autumn accessory - they're perfect, especially if you're heading off to University and aren't going to be lugging around oodles of books. I am particularly in love with this Women's Structured Satchel for just £12 at Peacocks!

Whether you wear it with a gorgeously girly dress and flats or an overcoat and jeans this is such a timeless piece - it will quite literally go with anything! Check out my styling picks below - a great dupe for one of my go to autumn outfits!

Autumn Outfit

Doesn't it just send visions of the ever luxurious Cambridge satchels? Of course, if your budget's a little higher than the average student you could invest. I am currently lusting after the new Mini at £125. Isn't the colour gorgeous?

What are your favorite satchels this autumn?
