My Handbag Essentials

Every girl has them, those handful of little things that improve their day to day life (why did you think our handbags were so big?). Whether it's a spare spritz or perfume or a kitchen sink, here are my must-haves for my handbag.

Handbag from New Look.

LIPSTICK & CONCEALER - I carry these everywhere with me, I have even purchased a concealer specifically for on the go touch ups (Miss Sporty's Perfect Stay Coverstick in Light, £1.79 at Superdrug), as for lipstick that changes depending on the season, my outfit and how long I'm out for. At the minute it's Collection 2000's Cream Puff Lip Cream in the shade Cotten Candy (£2.99). If you have particularly oily skin I would also recommend packing some oil absorption sheets or if you have the space, some extra powder that comes with a handy mirror and sponge for easy application. That said, if you don't have a compact mirror and, to avoid long queues in the bathroom - go invest!

GUM - I love gum. I do. I chew it everywhere possible and have my wonderful boyfriend to thank for it. I recently discovered Wriggley's Extra White chewing gum in Bubblegum flavour (I think it's about 50p a pack). It. Is. The. Bestest. Not only does it give you fresh breath but it can actually improve the overall whiteness of your teeth!

PLASTERS - My feet are probably the worst feet ever designed! I have super-narrow feet with very high arches and to top it off I'm a half size. Yup, from day one I knew it would always be a challenge to walk in high heels. I frequently get blisters because of my elastic backed shoes (the only flats that will not drop of my feet *sobs*) that dig into my foot with a day of serious shopping. I highly recommend fabric coloured plasters but just last week I was seen sporting some very nice lime green ones that could be seen peaking out of my shoes.

LIPBALM - A must-have for any handbag, pocket or purse out there! Whether it's Maybelline's Baby Lips (£2.99), H&M's Dreamy Vanilla (couldn't find it on their wesite but I know they have it in store!) or good ol' Vaseline! Lipbalms containing SPF are ideal for the summer whilst extra conditioning and moisturising ones are better for winder to keep your lips from chapping.

A BOOK - If I'm going for a day trip or on a journey where any sort of travelling is involved I will always take a book - whether it's a paperback, ebook or audiobook it's there. Currently I'm reading The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak and listening to If I Stay by Gale Foreman on my iPod.

MY PHONE/TABLET CHARGER - I tend to use the internet a lot whilst I'm out and about and Android's micro USB ports are perfectly interchangeable so whether my phone or tablet is low I can always charge it wherever I am.

A SPARE HAIR TIE AND PIN - I actually have these attached to my thirty million keys. I hate being in that situation where your hair is flopping in your eyes and you have no grip, or it slowly unstraightening and needs to be scraped back into a ponytail. In these situations I have more often than not reached for a pen and shoved my hair up into a bun (a skill I have used so frequently and now perfected, it's actually perfect for heavy revision sessions).

HAND CREAM - I am absoloutely obsessed with hand cream and quite literally put it on after every wash (probably unhealthy...) so I always carry pocket sized amounts in my purse, my favorite is Soap and Glory's Hand Food (125ml) for £5 at Boots.

PAPER AND PEN - This may sound like a silly thing - who needs paper and a pen when we have mobile phones? Well, uh, me. Sometimes I just prefer to write stuff down instead of relying on my phone all time - shopping lists and such. I've also got into a terrible habit of making important phone calls (like job interviews, whoops) on the bus - I hate having nothing to do! - and as I'm currently using my phone to talk to them I find it easier to just take notes on paper.

SPARE MONEY - I will always without fail carry a spare fiver in my purse in case I forget my wallet. There's nothing worse than getting all the way to the counter and realising you don't have your wallet and having to do the walk of shame back to the shelves!

What are your handbag essentials? AND if you're getting your results today I hope you did awesomely well! Congratulations in making it through the year, especially if you're doing A-levels (I know they're tough!). Good luck to those off to new schools and university's next year, you'll have a hell of a time. If you want to see more school/university survival related posts please post below as I'm thinking about doing a series!
